## Tennis: Kei Nishikori heads into Davis Cup without physical concerns *** Japan's Kei Nishikori has declared himself physically ready for the Davis Cup Finals despite battling a string of injuries in recent years. The former world number four, now ranked 31st, missed the entire clay-court season in 2022 due to a foot injury and has been hampered by various other ailments throughout his career. But the 33-year-old, who will lead Japan in the Davis Cup Finals in Glasgow from September 13-18, said he was feeling good physically. "I'm feeling good," Nishikori told reporters on Thursday. "I've been practicing well and I'm feeling healthy. I'm looking forward to playing in the Davis Cup." Nishikori is set to play in both singles and doubles for Japan, who are in a group with Italy, Croatia and Argentina. "I'm excited to play in the Davis Cup," Nishikori said. "It's always a special feeling to represent your country." Nishikori has a 26-13 record in Davis Cup singles and 7-4 in doubles. He was part of the Japan team that reached the semifinals in 2014. "We have a good team," Nishikori said. "We have a chance to do well in the Davis Cup." Japan will open their Davis Cup campaign against Italy on September 14.
